The Global Hunger Index is a peer-reviewed annual report, jointly published by Concern Worldwide, Welthungerhilfe, and the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV), designed to comprehensively measure and track hunger at the global, regional, and country levels. The aim of the GHI is to trigger action to reduce hunger around the world.

Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest private aid organizations in Germany and has no political or religious affiliations. It was founded in 1962 as the German section of the Freedom from Hunger Campaign, one of the first global initiatives to fight hunger, initiated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) is one of Europe’s leading academic institutions on humanitarian crises. Rooted in international humanitarian and human rights law, we combine interdisciplinary expertise from law, social science, geoscience, and public health.
